Staged debates have barely enough time for meaningless slogans and
mostly unchallenged fallacies. Let's use the power of the Internet
to conduct a real debate over the course of weeks. With many
cycles, candidates could explode their opponents' fallacies to explore
issues rationally (Hey, I can dream, can't I?).

There are better electoral systems out there. Even before enacting
one, determined voters can liberate each other from two-party tyranny
(but be warned, the powers that be have made it illegal in most states).
The worst wasted vote is one lending support to a harmful cause. The second worst is the vote not cast. At least voting independent for your true favorite candidate has some benefits, even if s/he doesn't win.
